Nepal’s share market remained virtually unchanged on Wednesday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declining by just 0.26 points to close at 2,622 points.
The index had dropped 19.34 points on Tuesday.
Trading turnover also declined significantly. Shares worth Rs 3.29 billion were traded on Wednesday, down from Rs 5.07 billion the Tuesday.
A total of 110 companies recorded gains, while 150 declined and 18 remained unchanged.
All sectoral indices fluctuated by less than 1%.
The banking sector rose 0.06%, hydropower 0.09%, non-life insurance 0.14%, others 0.12% and trading 0.76%.
Development banks declined 0.02%, finance 0.22%, hotels and tourism 0.38%, investment 0.28%, life insurance 0.31%, manufacturing and processing 0.04% and microfinance 0.33%.
As usual, hydropower companies recorded the highest turnover among sectoral groups, with transactions worth Rs 1.84 billion.
Commercial banks recorded turnover of Rs 370 million, while manufacturing and processing companies saw transactions worth Rs 350 million.
Recently listed companies Sarbottam Paints and Mount Everest Power gained 15% each.
Bhagwati Hydropower rose 3%, while Gurans Laghubitta gained 2.41%.
Manakamana Engineering Hydropower fell 8.45%, Rizline Energy declined 3.38% and Green Development Bank dropped 3.07%.
In terms of turnover, Sahas Urja, Solu Hydropower, Reliance Spinning Mills, Manakamana Engineering Hydropower and Khanikhola Hydropower were the most actively traded companies.
