NEPSE falls 19 points as trading turnover declines

Nepal’s share market fell 19.34 points on Tuesday, extending the decline after the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) had dropped 2.25 points on the previous trading day.

Following Tuesday’s trading, the NEPSE index stood at 2,622 points.

The prices of 57 companies increased, while those of 217 companies declined. Shares of five companies remained unchanged.

Trading turnover also declined slightly. A total of Rs 5.07 billion worth of shares were traded on Tuesday, compared to Rs 5.52 billion on the previous day.

All sectoral indices except trading declined. The trading sector rose 0.41 percent, while the manufacturing and processing sector recorded the biggest decline of 1.40 percent.

The banking sector fell 0.59 percent, development banks 0.59 percent, finance 0.41 percent, hotels and tourism 0.84 percent, hydropower 0.92 percent, investment 0.83 percent, life insurance 0.76 percent, microfinance 0.39 percent, non-life insurance 0.57 percent and the others sector 0.97 percent.

The hydropower sector recorded the highest turnover at Rs 2.53 billion. Commercial banks recorded transactions worth Rs 440 million, while manufacturing and processing companies recorded turnover of Rs 450 million.
