Illegal Chinese liquor worth Rs 9.15 million seized in Humla in a week

A monitoring team led by Chief District Officer Bholanath Guragai has destroyed illegal Chinese liquor and Budweiser canned beer worth Rs 3.966 million.

The team destroyed 606 cartons of illegal Chinese liquor, 54 cartons of Budweiser canned beer and one carton of whisky that had been hidden at Chhungsachaur in Namkha Rural Municipality-2, Humla.

According to Chief District Officer Guragai, 7,272 bottles of illegal Chinese liquor, 1,296 bottles of Budweiser canned beer and 12 bottles of whisky were destroyed.

Guragai said the illegal and inedible Chinese liquor was destroyed at Chhungsachaur in Namkha Rural Municipality in the presence of representatives from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department, the District Treasury and Comptroller Office, Humla, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, journalists, and Latar Lama, ward chairperson of Namkha Rural Municipality-4.

According to Guragai, on August 13, a team led by Assistant Chief District Officer Chandrabir Shahi seized 594 cartons of illegal Chinese liquor and 194 cartons of Budweiser from Nawalthang in Namkha Rural Municipality-2.

Police have seized illegal Chinese liquor worth Rs 9.159 million in Humla within a week.
