The government has set new salaries for officials of the judiciary and other constitutional bodies. The Ministry of Finance published the new salary scale in the Nepal Gazette through a notice issued on July 22. The new salary scale will be effective from July 17 (Shrawan 1), 2026.
The Chief Justice will now receive a monthly salary of Rs 112,522, while Supreme Court justices will receive Rs 93,547. Members of the Judicial Council and the Attorney General will also receive the same salary as Supreme Court justices.
The salaries and benefits of the Chief Justice and Supreme Court justices are determined in accordance with the Remuneration, Benefits and Conditions of Service Act, 2017.
The Chief Justice is provided with an official residence in Baluwatar, while other Supreme Court justices have been residing in government quarters in Pulchowk for the past few years. Justices who are not provided with official accommodation receive a lump-sum housing allowance.
They are also entitled to allowances and facilities for electricity, water and telephone services, transportation and fuel, daily and travel expenses, clothing, and other benefits. Justices of the High Courts and District Courts receive similar benefits, although at lower rates.
The salary of the Chief Judge of a High Court has been increased to Rs 90,640, while High Court judges will now receive Rs 84,590 per month. The salary of District Court judges has been increased to Rs 77,110.
The government has set the salaries of heads of constitutional bodies at Rs 93,547, equivalent to that of Supreme Court justices. Other officials of constitutional bodies will receive Rs 85,426 per month.
The Secretary-General of the Federal Parliament will now receive Rs 84,932 per month, while its secretaries will receive Rs 79,290.
