Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City approves annual budget of Rs 2.76 billion

Dharan Metropolitan City has passed its annual budget of Rs 2.76 billion for the current fiscal year. The 19th municipal assembly held on Thursday approved the current fiscal year’s budget, which has given much priority to building road networks and physical infrastructure, drinking water supply, education, health care, tourism facilities, agriculture, employment creation and disaster management.

Acting Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, Ayindra Bikram Begha, tabled the budget allocating Rs 2.47 billion for the municipal executive and Rs 287 million for 20 ward offices. Begha shared that Rs 1.40 billion in revenue will be collected from the sub-metropolitan city and Rs 862 million will be received from federal grants; Rs 91.6 million will be received in grants from the provincial government, Rs 328.89 million from revenue sharing and Rs 10 million from the Road Board. Likewise, the city has a deposit of Rs 70 million from the last fiscal year, according to Acting Mayor Begha.
