Students from the International Institute of Gastronomy (IIG) have secured multiple medals at the 18th edition of Culinary Art India, with all four participants returning home with awards.
The competition, held as part of the AAHAR International Food & Hospitality Fair and organised recently by the Indian Culinary Forum, brought together chefs and culinary students from across South Asia.
According to IIG, the institute’s participation was facilitated through a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Culinary Forum aimed at providing international exposure and professional development opportunities for students.
In the Live Cooking Challenge under the Vegan category, Jyoti Gaire won a silver medal in the appetiser segment, while Prashant Raya Chhetri secured bronze in the appetiser and Prerana Adhikari earned bronze in the main course category.
In the Eggs Benedict Challenge, Sandesh Aryal and Prerana Adhikari both won silver medals, adding to the institute’s overall tally. The institute said the achievements highlight the growing presence of Nepali culinary students in international competitions, with participants gaining hands-on experience and exposure to global standards.
IIG, a Kathmandu-based culinary education institution, focuses on industry-oriented training, international collaboration, and practical learning to prepare students for careers in the global hospitality sector. The institute said participation in international platforms such as Culinary Art India remains a key part of its academic approach, aimed at enhancing students’ skills, confidence, and professional outlook.
All four students returned to Nepal with medals, bringing recognition to the institute and contributing to the country’s emerging culinary profile in the region.
