SC to hear petition against decision to withdraw Rabi Lamichhane

Kathmandu, March 11

The Supreme Court has ordered a regular hearing from this Sunday on writ petitions filed against the decision to withdraw the case against Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane.

A joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shrikanta Paudel directed that the petitions be presented for regular hearing. The Supreme Court is expected to deliver its order within two to three days after the hearing begins.

Attorney General Sabina Bhandari Baral had instructed government attorneys to amend the charge sheet filed against Lamichhane and, in the process, to withdraw charges related to organised crime and money laundering.

Three separate writ petitions were registered at the Supreme Court challenging that decision.

The petitions were filed by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, advocate Abhas Regmi, along with two others, and Yuvraj Poudel.
