Election police ready but await logistics for field duty

Kathmandu, February 11

Training for the election police recruited for the upcoming House of Representatives election has been completed. The 10-day training for the election police hired for the election scheduled on March 5 concluded on Tuesday.

Although they were initially expected to be deployed to the field after completing the training, deployment will take a few more days due to incomplete preparation of logistics materials, including batons, whistles, uniforms, and shoes.

According to SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range, field deployment will be delayed for a few more days as uniforms are yet to be prepared. Training for the election police conducted nationwide has now been completed.

More than 338,000 security personnel will be mobilised for the upcoming election. A total of 79,727 personnel from the Nepali Army and 75,597 from Nepal Police will be deployed. Additionally, 130,980 election police will be mobilised under the Nepal Police.

Similarly, 34,576 Armed Police Force personnel will be deployed for election duties, supported by 15,110 election police under the Armed Police Force. In addition, 1,921 intelligence officers will be mobilised. Altogether, including personnel from all four security agencies and election police, a total of 333,980 security personnel will be assigned to election security.
