Kathmandu, January 30

Ahead of the House of Representatives Elections scheduled for March 5, Kathmandu District Police have stepped up patrols across the capital.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa, chief of Kathmandu District Police Range, said integrated security patrols have been launched as part of election-focused security measures.

According to him, joint patrols involving the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force are currently underway in Kathmandu.

Police have also begun inspections of hotels and lodges, including dog-sniffing operations, and have launched surprise checks at various locations across the city.

SSP Thapa said security teams are collecting information on potential threats, analysing them, and formulating security strategies accordingly.

Kathmandu district has a total of 320 polling stations, of which 176 are classified as normal and 144 as sensitive. There are no polling stations categorised as highly sensitive in the district.
