Harshal Jayant Pathak of India has been appointed as the head coach of the Nepali women’s cricket team, becoming the first foreign coach to take charge of the women’s side.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had invited applications to appoint a foreign coach ahead of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers. According to CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama, Pathak was selected from among over 70 applicants.
The Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers will be held in Nepal from January 12 to February 1, 2026. Preparations are already underway, with the women’s team having begun their coaching camp.
Pathak has previously served as the head coach of the Thailand women’s cricket team. Under his guidance, Thailand qualified for the T20 World Cup for the first time in 2020.
