The International Cultural Exchange Exhibition 2025, Smile for Smile opened on Sunday in Kathmandu, celebrating artistic collaboration between Nepal and several other countries.
The event is jointly organised by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in cooperation with Art Project International G2 GINZA GalleryG2, Japan and Bindu Space for Artists.
The exhibition was inaugurated by NAFA Chancellor Narad Mani Hartamchhali, who said art serves as a universal language that fosters cultural exchange, expressing unique identities and traditions while spreading messages of peace and harmony.
Former NAFA Chancellor Kiran Manandhar praised the initiative, describing such exhibitions with friendly nations as commendable efforts. He added that art, like science and technology, continues to make great strides globally.
Head of NAFA’s Contemporary Art Department, Saurganga Darshandhari, said the exhibition provides valuable opportunities to understand diverse artistic dimensions and perspectives from different countries.
Art Project International G2 GINZA GalleryG2, Japan’s Director Tamaki Kano expressed happiness at organising the event in Nepal, noting that this year’s exhibition also includes artworks by children.
Curator and Director of Bindu Space for Artists, Prithvi Shrestha, thanked all participating artists and supporters for making the event possible.
The exhibition features artworks from Nepal, Japan, South Korea, and Germany.

Nepali artists include Narad Mani Hartamchhali, Lal Kaji Lama, Saurganga Darshandhari, Dineshwar Mahato, Sanjaya Bantawa, Aruna Hingmang, Pradeep Shakya, Sundar Singhwal, Erina Tamrakar, Prithvi Shrestha, Manish Lal Shrestha, Asha Dangol, Samjhana Rajbhandari, Anil Shahi, Bhairaja Maharjan, Binod Limbu, Binod Pradhan, Deepak Aauji, Jaya Sharma, Jenny Ghale, Karma Tashi Gurung, Krishna Lama, Manorama Khatri, Min Thapa, Muna Bhadel, Navin Nalbo, Pradeep Kumar Bajracharya, Pradyumna Shrestha, Pramila Bajracharya, Rajan Maharjan, Ritu Thapa, Roshan Pradhan, Subhadri Subha, Surem Deshar, and Diproj Gurung.
Participating Japanese artists include Mayumi Izawa, Kenji Inoue, Shigeko Uchida, Akemi Eguchi, Masayo Okawa, Keiko Okano, Kofu Kano, Shuko Kano, Shoto Kano, Sekai Kano, Senku Kano, Souryu Kano, Takushu Kano, Riei Kano, Ryuko Kano, Mariko Kawai, Aiko Kurebayashi, Masami Shimoda, Soul Mandala Nao, Makoto Tanaka, Sachiko Tamashima, Harumi Tamura, Yoko Chijimatsu, Aya Nishiki, Tomoko Hasune, Yuji Hachiro, Mikoto Fuku, Mitsuyo Makino, Tomomi Miura, Mitsuyo Murata, Kazuko Yamazaki, Teruko Yamazaki, Chieko Yoshida, Yuko Watanabe and Enryu Kano.
Artworks from South Korean artists GuGu Kim, TTODOA, and Kang Seo Woo, and from German artists Eberhard Ross and Gabriele Musebrink are also on display.
The exhibition will continue until November 13 at Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Naxal.
