President: Efforts underway to resolve crisis within constitutional framework

Kathmandu, September 11

President Ramchandra Paudel has said he is making efforts to resolve the current political crisis while staying within the constitutional framework.

Issuing a statement, President Paudel said he was holding consultations and making every effort to safeguard democracy and maintain peace and order in the country.

“In this difficult situation, I am considering how to provide a way out within the constitutional boundary and how to ensure the protection of democracy and the preservation of peace and order,” the statement read.

President Paudel had been escorted out of Sheetal Niwas with the assistance of the Nepal Army following the violent protests led by Gen Z demonstrators. Since then, he has not appeared in public, even virtually.

Through his statement, he also urged all sides to cooperate in maintaining peace and order in the country.

“I call on everyone to remain assured that efforts are being made to resolve the issues raised by the protesting citizens as quickly as possible, and to extend support in maintaining peace and order with restraint,” the President said.
