Travelers will soon be able to fly directly between Pokhara and Australia. This will be possible once China’s Sichuan Airlines begins operating flights to Australia from Pokhara International Airport.

The airline has applied to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for permission to operate flights from Pokhara to Australia via Chengdu.

According to CAAN information officer Gyanendra Bhul, preparations are underway to grant approval after completing the necessary procedures. “Bilateral discussions are underway to finalize the process. The flight schedule is to be submitted by the airline soon,” Bhul said.

Sichuan Airlines plans to commence flights in September. The airline had previously operated chartered flights to Pokhara International Airport but now intends to launch regular services to Australia. Sichuan Airlines, the largest airline in western China, is headquartered in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
