Shark Cabinet Shrestha: Driving vision, growth, and innovation in Nepal’s business landscape

Kathmandu, June 25

In a country where innovation is increasingly seen as a pathway to national progress, Shark Tank Nepal has emerged as a transformative platform—turning startup dreams into business realities. Broadcast on Himalaya Television, the Nepali adaptation of the global franchise brings together budding entrepreneurs and established investors in a high-stakes, high-impact arena that blends ambition with opportunity.

More than just a TV show, Shark Tank Nepal is a cultural and economic phenomenon. With the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nepal often constrained by limited access to capital, mentorship, and visibility, the show serves as a critical bridge. It gives founders from across the country a rare platform to present their ideas, attract investments, and receive expert insights from successful business leaders—referred to as the “Sharks.”

What sets this show apart is its deep connection to Nepali realities. While maintaining the excitement and structure of its international counterparts, Shark Tank Nepal celebrates indigenous solutions and scalable ideas that address local challenges. From sustainable innovations to tech-driven platforms, the pitches on the show reflect the hopes and talents of a new generation of Nepali entrepreneurs.

At the heart of this dynamic ecosystem are the Sharks themselves—industry leaders who not only invest but also mentor. One such figure is Cabinet Shrestha, a seasoned entrepreneur whose business acumen and leadership have helped shape Nepal’s industrial landscape.

Born in Lalitpur in 1965 and educated in Darjeeling, India, Shrestha is a firm believer in self-improvement and continuous growth. His entrepreneurial journey began in 1990 with Himalayan Business System, an IT venture.

A turning point came when Mahindra Motors sought a distributor in Nepal. Shrestha, who was then involved in software trading, seized the opportunity to pursue his passion for automobiles. That decision marked the birth of Agni Group—a business empire that now spans over 65 locations and eight companies across Nepal.

Under his stewardship, Agni Group introduced Mahindra vehicles to the Nepali market and played a pioneering role in bringing electric vehicles to the country. His bold entry into sustainable transport highlighted his forward-thinking approach and willingness to embrace change. Today, his business interests span education, hospitality, automotive services, beverages, and digital platforms like the FYMO food delivery app.

Shrestha’s leadership style is defined by adaptability, innovation, and discipline. He believes in evolving with time and isn’t afraid to take calculated risks. As Chairperson of Agni Group, he remains actively involved in operations and strategic planning, reinforcing his commitment to long-term impact.

Beyond boardrooms, Shrestha values family time and travel, drawing inspiration from diverse experiences. For him, success stems from a balance of vision, passion, and persistent effort.

Together with fellow Sharks, Cabinet Shrestha exemplifies the spirit of Shark Tank Nepal—where every pitch holds the promise of transformation and every investment, the seed of a brighter economic future.
