Kathmandu, June 23
In a nation where the entrepreneurial flame is steadily growing, Shark Tank Nepal has carved a unique niche—offering a vibrant space where ambition meets opportunity. Broadcasting on Himalaya Television, the Nepali adaptation of the globally celebrated franchise connects aspiring innovators with seasoned investors, breathing life into ideas that once lacked the means to grow.
The show has become more than just entertainment; it is now a launchpad for Nepal’s emerging businesses, spotlighting culturally rooted innovations with real potential for impact.
At the forefront of this business revolution is Ritu Singh Vaidya—one of the country’s most respected and accomplished industrial leaders. As a “Shark,” she brings not just capital, but deep-rooted experience, strategic foresight, and a commitment to fostering Nepal’s business potential.
Vaidya serves as the Managing Director of United Traders Syndicate Pvt Ltd (UTS), the authorised distributor of Toyota vehicles in Nepal. Under her stewardship, UTS has thrived in a competitive and male-dominated industry.
Her business leadership extends across the expansive VOITH Group (Vaidya’s Organization of Industries and Trading House), which encompasses automobiles, finance, agriculture, and heavy machinery. Recently, her ventures have expanded to include heavy equipment distributorships such as XCMG and SUNWARD, signaling her focus on industrial transformation.
Before stepping into the business world, Vaidya first made her mark on global stages through beauty pageants. At the age of 19, she represented India and secured notable titles—fifth runner-up at Miss World, second runner-up at Miss Asia World, and first runner-up at Miss India Universe. Educated in Delhi, she holds a BA in Economics and Political Science and a diploma in fashion design. Her early professional life included a fashion design studio and the wellness venture Spa Prana in Kathmandu.
Her achievements go beyond boardrooms and business pitches. A trained Hindustani classical singer, she released an album Sun Zara, appearing in its music videos. She is also an advocate for women’s entrepreneurship and empowerment, serving on the boards of the SAARC Chamber of Women Entrepreneur Council and the Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal. She is involved in microfinance projects aimed at helping women start businesses and is also part of a major initiative—HUAXIN Cement—which will soon produce 3,000 tons of cement daily in Nepal.
Ritu Singh Vaidya exemplifies the essence of the modern leader: grounded, versatile, and forward-thinking. Her presence on Shark Tank Nepal embodies not just investment acumen, but also mentorship and inspiration for thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs. Married to renowned businessman Suraj Vaidya and a mother of three, she continues to shape Nepal’s business future—one bold idea at a time.
