In celebration of International Female Riders Day 2025, the social media group Two Wheel Queens organised a special event titled ‘Ride to Heritage Sites’ on Saturday.
The cultural ride began at London Fashion House in Sorhakhutte, Kathmandu, and concluded at Dhumbarahi, covering several heritage locations across the Kathmandu Valley.
Participants visited lesser-known cultural sites in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur as part of the event, aiming to spotlight Nepal’s hidden cultural treasures and educate both local and international tourists about Nepali art and heritage, according to the organisers.
Around 25 female motorcyclists representing Two Wheel Queens took part in the ride, dressed in traditional outfits such as sarees and Newa attire, adding a unique cultural flair to the journey.
During the visit to the Bagh Bhairav and Uma Maheshwor temples in Kirtipur, Ward-1 Chairperson Ikshya Maharjan provided historical insights about the local heritage sites and extended his gratitude and best wishes to the riders.
The group also explored the Brahmayani Temple in Thecho and viewed artistic creations in Siddhipur. They stopped for lunch at Newa Falcha Thasi, a restaurant run by women from the Newa community, and continued site visits afterward.
In addition to the heritage ride, the Two Wheel Queens community extended financial support to athletes training at the Pasang Lhamu Sports Climbing Center in Dhumbarahi.
