Government appoints Acting Vice Chancellors at 4 Health Science Academies

Kathmandu, April 21

The government has appointed acting vice chancellors at four health science academies following the completion of the current vice chancellors’ tenures.

On Thursday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of the academies, designated acting vice chancellors for the institutions.

Dean Prof Dr Shree Krishna Shrestha has been appointed as the acting vice chancellor of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, while Rector Dabal Bahadur Dhami will serve in the same role at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences.

Similarly, Rector Prof Dr Pawan Sharma has been named acting vice chancellor of Patan Academy of Health Sciences, and Rector Prof Dr Sanjib Sharma will take on the role at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

The acting vice chancellors have been authorised to carry out the regular academic, administrative, and financial duties of their respective institutions until permanent appointments are made.

The four-year terms of the previous vice chancellors ended between April 5 and April 9.

Previously, Prof Dr Duk Bahadur Chhetri served as vice chancellor in Pokhara, Dr Gyanendra Giri in Dharan, Dr Mangal Rawal in Karnali, and Prof Dr Rajeshnath Gongal in Patan.

The government will form a recommendation committee to propose candidates for new vice chancellors, based on which the prime minister, in his capacity as chancellor, will make the final appointments.
