Tri-Nation T20I Series: Nepal suffers defeat against Canada

Nepal suffered a 4-wicket defeat against the host nation Canada in the Tri-Nation T20I Series, diminishing their chances of winning the title.

Chasing a target of 140 runs, Canada reached the target in 19.3 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. Saad Bin Zafar scored 33 runs off 18 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six, while Ravinderpal Singh remained unbeaten on 20.

Dilpreet Bajwa scored 25, Navneet Dhaliwal 12, Nicholas Kirton 26, and Harsh Thaker managed 11 runs before getting out.

For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets, giving away 23 runs in his 4 overs, with 1 maiden. Lalit Rajbanshi also claimed 2 wickets for 20 runs in his 4 overs. Sompal Kami picked up 1 wicket, conceding 31 runs in 4 overs.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal posted 139 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Anil Sah was the top scorer with 41 runs off 30 balls, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes. Asif Sheikh contributed 30 runs off 30 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six.

Openers Asif and Anil gave Nepal a strong start with a 70-run partnership in 9.1 overs. However, the middle order failed to capitalise after Anil was caught by Akhil Kumar off Harsh Thaker’s delivery.

Kushal Bhurtel scored 13, Dipendra Singh Airee 12, while Rohit Paudel and Kushal Malla managed 4 runs each. Gulshan Jha added a quick 23 runs off 16 balls with 2 sixes, and Karan KC remained unbeaten on 8 runs.

For Canada, Harsh Thaker took 2 wickets for 17 runs in his 4 overs, while Pravin Kumar, Dillon Heyliger, and Saad Bin Zafar each picked up 1 wicket.

In their previous match, Nepal lost to Canada by 14 runs but secured a 37-run win against Oman in the second match. Nepal will face Oman in their final match on Wednesday night.
