Kathmandu, September 30
The Bagmati Province government has decided to honour Chanika Lal Tamang from Kavre with a cash reward of Rs 150,000 for rescuing two individuals from the Nakhu River in Lalitpur.
Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama stated that the province government would honour Tamang for his courageous act, which saved the lives of two people. Tamang, a resident of Choktar in Temal Rural Municipality-9, Kavre, had rescued six-year-old Meghna Sah, daughter of Raju Sah, and Raju’s 22-year-old brother, Raj Sah, from Rautahat, as they were being swept away by the Nakhu River last Saturday.
Chief Minister Lama also thanked Tamang over the phone for his heroic act.
High alert in 13 districts of the province
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Lama stated that the province government has deployed the necessary personnel across all 13 districts to manage disaster relief, flood, and landslide-affected rescue and relief operations.
The Chief Minister added that teams have been mobilised in all districts to provide medical treatment to disaster victims, with arrangements for free medical care. He also mentioned that immediate relief and temporary shelter arrangements are in place, and further aid will be provided in coordination with the federal government and in collaboration with local authorities.
Additionally, Chief Minister Lama informed that data is being collected on the condition of all roads within the province, and a special strategy has been developed to ensure road construction and operation before the Dashain festival.
