Conflict victims demand their ‘say’ in transitional justice process

Kathmandu, March 1

The Conflict Victims Common Platform (CVCP) has called on the government to incorporate the survivors of a decade-long armed conflict in the transitional justice process.

The three-day extended meeting of the Platform demanded the government involve the conflict survivors in the amendment process of existing laws, reparation policy and the restructuring of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

In a press statement issued after the meeting, the platform said that even though it has been almost a month since the transitional justice Act was amended; no step had been taken by the government to address the issues of victims. It has sought the government to immediately send a formal invitation to the Platform for talks.
