Nepal’s Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has praised India for its prompt assistance during recent disasters in Nepal and the devastating 2015 earthquake, during a direct conversation with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar at the NDTV World Summit 2026 in New Delhi.

Speaking at a session titled A World Between Orders, Wagle discussed Nepal–India relations and issues of regional concern, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Finance.

Recalling India’s response to recent disasters in Rasuwa and the Bhotekoshi area linked to climate change, as well as the 2015 earthquake, Wagle said India had provided crucial support within hours of the emergencies.

“As Nepal’s minister, I can say that during both the recent disaster and the earthquake, India was there within the first few hours and provided us with extraordinary assistance,” Wagle said. “Nepal is extremely grateful for this.”

His remarks highlighted the importance of timely regional cooperation in responding to natural disasters and strengthening Nepal–India relations.
