The Government of Nepal on Friday has decided to accept, besides monetary support, support in kind from foreign donors for victims of recent floods in various parts of the country.

A meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Rajendra Kishore Kshatri made the decision today. However, the government has said such support should be delivered at places fixed by the Ministry of Home Affairs by September 15.

Those willing to provide cash assistance have been urged to deposit the amount at the account of PM’s Natural Disaster Rescue Fund at the Standard Chartered Bank.

Meanwhile, the government has clarified that individuals and organisations willing to extend support to the victims can distribute relief goods in coordination with concerned District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee. The Committee prioritises the type of support and areas which mostly need it.

Earlier, the government had decided to distribute support through a one-door system and various INGOs had criticised it claiming it would bar them from reaching out to the victims.
