Kathmandu, June 4

The government has fixed the number of minimum staff required for each municipality, rural municipality and ward in the new local level structure.

According to a decision made by a task force formed by the Ministry of General Administration to determine the number of staff at local levels, a new municipality office has at least 11 staff. Old municipalities will run with the staff which they had before. An under secretary leads the management team of a municipality.

Likewise, each rural municipality has at least nine staff under the leadership of under secretary or section officer.

Both kinds of bodies include staff from administrative, accounting and technical groups.

Each ward of both rural municipality or municipality has three staff, working as ward secretary, administrative assistant and office assistant.
