Kathmandu, March 19
MPs from the agitating Madheshi Morcha boycotted the day’s meeting of Parliament demanding that the governemt put the constitution amendment bill to vote.
Morcha MPs stood up the moment Speaker Onsari Gharti started House proceedings, and they announced that they are boycotting the meeting. Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Pary’s Jangilal Yadav accused the government of trying to forcefully conduct elections. He added that elections cannot take place without amending the constitution to address the demands of the Morcha.
Lawmakers from the Morcha then walked out of the meeting.
The meeting was postponed for half-an-hour after a motion was passed to condole the death of former Nepali Congress MP Ramhari Dhungel.
