Nepal’s Supreme Court has ordered a stay on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s decision to cancel appointment of envoys to various countries made by the erstwhile KP Oli government

A bench of Justice Sushila Karki has also ordered the government to explain why it took the decision.

Then Prime Minister Oli had nominated 22 envoys to different countries, 14 of the nominated were politicians while eight were career diplomats. They were awaiting their hearing in Parliament to be formally sent to their work stations.

The Prachanda government had decided to scrap the nomination of the 14. A writ was filed against the decision by Yubraj Karki and four others.
