Government projects 89.4% of budget will be spent in current fiscal year

Kathmandu, May 29

The government has estimated that only 89.4 percent of the total allocation will be spent in the current fiscal year 2024/25.

While presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented the revised estimate of the current year’s budget.

This year, the government is implementing a budget of NPR 1.86 trillion. However, it is now estimated to shrink to NPR 1.662 trillion, which is 89.4 percent of the total.

The government estimates that 88.5 percent of the recurrent expenditure allocation and 83 percent of the capital expenditure will be spent. In contrast, 97.6 percent of the financial management allocation is expected to be utilized. The Finance Minister also projected that revenue mobilization will increase by 17.1 percent in this fiscal year.
