6th Nepali Topi Diwas marked

Kathmandu, January 1

The sixth Nepali Topi Diwas has been celebrated in a grand manner under the slogan, “Nepali Topi: Our Pride, Our Identity” on Tuesday.

Youths gathered at Maitighar Mandala and organised a morning rally to New Baneshwor. The day is celebrated to protect Nepali attire in this ever-changing time.

The campaign has been celebrating the day demanding Nepali Topi (Dhaka Topi, Bhadgaule Topi) be declared as the symbol of national identity after the then government in 2014 removed Daura Suruwal, Topi and Gunyu Cholo from the list of national dress.

The youths clad in Daura Suruwal and Dhaka Topi stressed the need of protecting the national dress.
