Chitwan, April 12
Five persons have died in a tractor accident in the eastern part of the Chitwan district of southern Nepal on Sunday night.
The vehicle (Na 1 Ta 6282) was carrying construction workers who were returning from the site where the Rapti municipality was constructing its ward 11 office building. The tractor had skidded off the road at Chiuri Khola, Rapti-11, killing Khadka Lama (35), Magan Mahato (40), Chhaniya Mahato (50), Sita Ram Bista (45), and an unidentified man who appears to be in his mid-20s.
Four of them died at Purano Medical College and one at Bharatpur Hospital during treatment, informs Surya Thapa, the District Police Office spokesperson.
Other 17 people who were on board the vehicle are undergoing treatment at various health facilities in the district. Six of them are said to be critical.
There had been another road accident also in the Chitwan earlier Sunday, killing two.
