4 ex-Maoist UML leaders move court demanding the reinstatement of lawmakership

L-R: Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Lekh Raj Bhatta, Prabhu Sah, and Gauri Shankar Chaudhary

Kathmandu, July 28

Four former members of the House of Representatives, who recently defected the CPN-Maoist Centre to join the CPN-UML, have filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court, demanding the court establish their position as the lawmakers.

Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Lekh Raj Bhatta, Prabhu Sah and Gauri Shankar Chaudhary had lost the membership of the House as the party they represented, Maoist Centre, removed them from the party, in April. The party had taken action against them as they joined the UML in support of KP Sharma Oli’s dissolution of the House of Representatives in December 2020.

Nearly four months after that, the leaders moved the apex court, demanding the positions be reinstated.
