Police have arrested four people on charges of stealing gold and silver jewellery and purchasing stolen jewellery.
Those arrested have been identified as 29-year-old Sawan Kushwaha of Gaushala Municipality-5, Mahottari, currently residing in Jadibuti, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32; 36-year-old Pabitra Limbu of Aathrai Rural Municipality-8, Tehrathum; 25-year-old Shrikrishna Bishwakarma of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-5, Dolakha; and 43-year-old Ramila BK of Bhojpur Municipality-5, Bhojpur, currently residing in Narephat, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32.
Police investigation found that Sawan was involved in stealing the jewellery, while Pabitra, Shrikrishna and Ramila were involved in purchasing it.
The four were arrested during an investigation into the theft of gold and silver jewellery from a house in Narephat, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, on August 3. A team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested them during the investigation.
Police also recovered various gold and silver jewellery items from their possession.
The arrested individuals have been handed over to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal action.
