Biratnagar, September 27
On Saturday night, a Scorpio vehicle that met with an accident near the Oil Corporation area in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-3 was found carrying 398 kg of marijuana.
The vehicle had been heading from Itahari toward Biratnagar on the Koshi Highway when it made a U-turn and fled upon spotting a routine checkpoint set up by Bargachhi Police Post around 10 pm. While fleeing, the Scorpio collided with an oncoming car. The Scorpio’s driver then fled the scene on foot.
When police searched the vehicle after the crash, they found 13 sacks of marijuana hidden inside, weighing a total of 398 kg, according to Morang Police spokesperson DSP Mahendra Kumar Mishra. He said a search is underway for the fleeing driver, and both vehicles are now in police custody.
