Kathmandu, January 5
Central Investigation Bureau on Thursday arrested three persons with 34 kg of gold from Tribhuvan International Airport.
CIB seized the illegal consignment from an Air Arabia flight that had originated in Dubai. The consignment includes 282 biscuits of gold, 19 rings and 20 gold chains, weighing 34 kg, according to police.
Acting on a special tip-off, a CIB team arrested Gopal Bahadur Shahi, Dil Bahadur Thapa and Santosh Kafle with the illegal cargo.
Shahi had arrived from Dubai with the luggage containing the consignment on Wednesday. Shahi, Thapa and Kafle had visited the airport to claim the consignment. Police said a search for the owner of the consignment is underway.
