Makawanpur, November 19
A three-year-old child has been found dead in Lamitar, Bagmati rural municipality-7 of Makawanpur district, just some kilometres south of Kathmandu, on Wednesday evening.
Police have suspected that Rubina Pakhrin was raped before murder. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the case, but further investigation is still underway.
SP Mukesh Singh, the District Police Office Chief, says, “Some children gathered there for a religious function were playing there at around 4 pm, but Pakhrin had disappeared after a while. Later, at around 7 in the evening, we found her semi-conscious on a nearby riverbank.”
She was immediately taken to the District Hospital in Hetaunda, where doctors declared her dead.
Investigators think it was a murder after rape because the victim’s underwear was found nearby the incident site whereas there were many bloodstains on her body.
Preparations are underway to send the victim’s body for postmortem.
