Butwal, August 16

The dispute related to the electricity bills of the trunk line service between the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and industries in the Butwal-Bhairahawa industrial corridor has reached court.

Eighteen industries along the corridor have filed a complaint at the district court stating that they are being charged for trunk line service that they have not used.

The NEA had asked the industries to clear the dues from 2018 to now. According to the NEA, it needs to collect over Rs 400 million in dues from the concerned industries for the trunk line service.

However, industrialists in the corridor have denied paying for the said services claiming that they have not used them.

In the complaint, they have mentioned NEA’s central office, NEA’s distribution centres and NEA customer care centre as the defendants and filed separate lawsuits.

“We will summon the defendants for answers,” said Saptari District Court’s Shobhakar Kharel.
