11 parties one against CJ impeachment motion

Kathmandu, May 4

As many as 11 parties in Parliament formed an alliance to demand that ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre withdraw the impeachment motion they filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

Eight parties including the main opposition CPN-UML, which were already in the opposition; Kamal Thapa-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party, which recently quit the government; Upendra Yadav-led Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal; and Bijay Kumar Gachhadar-led Nepal Democratic Forum became united to protest the move.

The parties held a joint meeting today and urged the government to withdraw the motion.

The UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has already asked Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal either to withdraw the motion to put it to vote as soon as possible.
