Uphold the law, don’t tarnish Nepal Police’s image, Acting Chief Pokharel tells rank n file

Kathmandu, February 14

Nepal Police’s Acting Inspector General Dr Dinesh Chandra Pokharel has directed the rank and file not to work in a way that tarnishes the image of the police force.

A deputy superintendent of police, who attended Tuesday’s briefing, quoted Pokharel as saying: An adverse situation has brought me to this position.

Pokharel then told the rank and file not to break the chain of command.

Pokharel told subordinates: I am a doctor but a complex situation has brought me to this position. You people know more about the police force than I do. During my term at least, do not do anything that tarnishes the force’s image.

Pokharel said this while assuming office in the capacity of acting chief of the police force, at MPCD Commissioner’s Office at  Ranipokhari. He directed all concerned not to make any compromise while discharging their duties.

Meanwhile, NP on Tuesday appointed SSP Sarbendra Khanal as its spokesperson. The position had been lying vacant after retirement of DIG Hemanta Malla.
