Rastriya Janata Party Nepal’s presidium member Rajendra Mahato, who has recently been elected a member of Parliament from Dhanusha-3 defeating influential Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi, says he will work for amending the constitution in the House.

Terming his victory as a victory of Madhesh, the leader says the constitution amendment is a must to equip Madheshis with rights and opportunities as well as development of the region.

According to Mahato, he will coordinate and cooperate with the leftist alliance to ensure the constitution amendment.

“At the centre, we will cooperate with other parties including the leftist alliance,” he says, “We will make efforts to provide people with the rights missing in the constitution.”

The top leader of alliance, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, however, has already clarified that the alliance will not accept the constitution amendment in the form presented earlier as it was against national interests.
