NOC land scam: Supplies ministry secretary recommends action against Khadka

Ministry of supplies Secretary Krishna Devkota has recommended action against Nepal Oil Corporation MD Gopal Bahadur Khadka for allegedly embezzling billions during the procurement of land for the state oil monopoly to build storage facilities.

Devkota, who is also the chief of the NOC’s board of directors, had been ordered by Minister Shiva Kumar Mandal to investigate allegations leveled against Khadka, submitted his recommendations on Monday, the minister confirmed.

According to a source, the report says that Khadka’s action cause irreparable damage to NOC and the government should take action against him. A parliamentary probe committee had also found irregularities in the land purchase deals.

According to officials in the know, as Khakas was appointed to the post by the Council of Ministers, the Cabinet can take action against the ‘political appointee’.

Minister Mandal, who is in the Terai, said he will return to Kathmandu on Tuesday. He said action will be taken against Khadka if he is found guilty.
