Nepal on Wednesday defeated Kuwait by 30 runs in their final group stage match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier.
Captain Rubina Chhetri claimed three wickets of the opponents in the final over of the second innings to lead her team to the victory.
Kuwait were restricted to 86 runs at the loss of nine wickets.
Earlier in the first innings, Nepal had scored 116 runs. Bindu Rawal had scored highest 28 runs in 49 balls for Nepal. Captain Chhetri’s 33 run partnership with Neri Thapa was also significant for Nepal. Chhetri and Thapa scored 22 and 19 runs individually.
Nepal’s batting, however, was not impressive in the beginning.
Despite the win, Nepal have been crashed out of the tournament as only one team will quality for the global qualifiers. Thailand have already secured the berth.
