Maoists’ rebel candidate turns victorious in Humla

Humla, December 8

Maoist leader Chhakka Bahadur Lama, who had filed candidacy for the House of Representatives from his home constituency in Humla district as an independent candidate after the CPN-Maoist Centre denied the poll ticket to him, has won the polls.

As per the results announced today, Lama garnered 8,444 votes to defeat Mangal Bahadur Shahi of Nepali Congress. by a margin of 47 votes.

The leftist alliance’s official Chhimidorje Lama received 2,700 votes to be restricted to the third position.

Chhakka Bahadur is a former lawmaker and former state minister.

He was a politburo member of the CPN-Maoist Centre, which suspended him from the position owing to his rebel candidacy.
