Kantipur Contempt Case: Publisher, editor to record statement on Sunday

Kathmandu, March 2

The editor and publisher of Kantipur daily newspaper have been told to appear before the Supreme Court on Sunday to record their statements in a contempt-of-court case.

Editor Sudhir Sharma and publisher Kailash Shirohiya were preset at the court on Friday, the day the court had ordered them to record thier statements in the case. However, due to lack of time, they have have been told to come back on Sunday.

A contempt case was filed against Sharma, Shirohiya and correspondent Krishna Gyawali after the paper questioned Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli’s official documents. During the intial hearing of the case, the trio was ordred to report to the court on Friday.

Court spokesperson Narayan Panthi said that trio has been told to report to the court at 10 am on Sunday. Shirohiya said that his team came to the court to respect the judiciary.
