Football championship for rhino conservation

A Rhino Conservation Football Championship is to be organised here for sending out the message of preserving the endangered one-horned rhinoceros.

The championship that is held every year will kick off on October 28. The championship is organised by the Nanda Bhauju Madhyawarti Upabhokta Samiti.

Speaking in a press conference today, Samiti president Doman Bahadur Bhandari said that the teams of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force as well as the ‘A’ Division clubs will compete in the championship.

The event is being held for last 15 years regularly.

The winning team will bag Rs 499, 555 and the first runner-up team Rs 255,555. The goal of organising the championship is to encourage youth towards conservation of the rhinos through sports, Bhandari said.
