Five persons killed in Dhading landslides

Kathmandu, June 28

At least five persons of two families died when landslides hit various villages of Dhading district in the wee hours of Thursday.

Basuda Gurung (33), and her two daughters–Laxmi (10) and Saraswati (5) died after a landslide buried their house in Khaniyabas-5 of the district, according to the chief of District Police Office, SP Dambar BK.

Their 10-year-old son Bikas Gurung has sustained minor injuries and is undergoing treatment at a local health facility.

In another case, Shamsher Ghale (60) and his wife Kopchi died in Chiuribot, Khaniyabas-4, according to BK. Two persons are missing in the incident.

Seven houses have been buried and four persons are injured.

Police say total 176 households have been affected by the landslide.

Yet in another similar incident, five houses have been destroyed in Marpak of Netrawati Dapjong.

Health workers and security personnel have been mobilised for rescue works in the affected sites.
