Banstola’s funeral at Pashupati Aryaghat this afternoon

Chakra Prasad Banstola

Kathmandu, October 14

The Nepali Congress party says it will hold the funeral of deceased leader Chakra Prasad Banstola at Pashupati Aryaghat in Kathmandu this afternoon.

The party’s Central Office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel says the funeral will be held after 4 pm today.

Before the funeral, the body of deceased leader will be kept at the party’s central office in Sanepa of Lalitpur for final tributes, according to Paudel.

Banstola had breathed his last at his residence in Khumaltar of Lalitpur last night. The septuagenarian leader was in a coma for past six years after he survived a brain haemorrhage in 2012 December.

Banstola was a former Nepali ambassador to India and former Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party has postponed the schedule programme of submitting a memorandum to the government against the price hike in daily essentials as it mourns the central leader’s death.
