Kathmandu, December 23
The groupings and match schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, to be held in Kathmandu next January, have been made public.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) released the schedule on Tuesday. Hosts Nepal have been placed in Group B.
The tournament, featuring 10 teams including Nepal, will begin on January 14 at the Mulpani Cricket Ground and the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground. Warm-up matches will be held on January 14 and 16, while the main matches will start from January 18.
Group A includes Bangladesh, Ireland, Namibia, Papua New Guinea and the United States. Group B comprises Nepal, Scotland, Thailand, the Netherlands and Zimbabwe.
Nepal will play their first match against Thailand on January 18 at the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground.
Nepal qualified for the Global Qualifier for the first time after advancing through the Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier.
The top three teams from each group will progress to the Super Six stage. From the Super Six, the top four teams will qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
