Kathmandu, March 8

More than 100 men held a march in Lalitpur expressing their commitment against violence against women and girls, in Kathmandu on Tuesday, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

More than a dozen youth organisations had joined hands to hold the Men’s March: Men against Violence against Women and Girls, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The rally had begun from Mangalbazaar and passed through Gabahal and Pulchok before converging into an assembly at Jawalakhel.

Women in almost the same number had supported the event, by joining the concluding assembly.

During the concluding event, the participants recited some poems about men’s role in women’s access to gender justice.

President of Yuwalaya, the organisation coordinating the event, Santosh Maharjan, says his organisation has been hosting Men’s March on International Women’s Day every year since 2014 to express men’s solidarity with women.
