2 arrested in Chitwan National Park on wildlife trafficking charges

Kathmandu, June 1

Chitwan National Park officials have arrested two persons on the charge of wildlife trafficking.

Those arrested are Raj Chepang and Sundar Praja, both of Kalika municipality-11. Chepang was arrested from Sauraha on May 27 while and Praja was arrested from his house on May 28, according to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, information officer at the national park.

They were arrested after park officials received a tip of the two being involved in wildlife trafficking.

Park officials also found two country-made pistols at Praja’s house.

The seized pistols have been submitted to the District Police Office, Chitwan, and the national park has launched investigations, said Tiwari.
