Viral-Fever

Bhaktapur, August 5

Viral fever is spreading in Bhaktapur at an alarming rate. With the onset of monsoon, an increasing number of viral fever patients — most of them are children and senior citizens — are visiting seven hospitals based in the district.

Bhaktapur district hospital is finding it hard to cope with pressure of patients suffering from the communicable disease. Bishwo Prasad Neupane, chief of the hospital administration, said hospital beds are full of viral fever and other patients.

He said 200 patients visit the hospital daily for health checkup and most of them have viral fever and dysentery.

Dr Hari Bahadur KC, the hospital’s medical superintendent, said the number of patients has increased because people are aware that the fever will grip the entire family in the event of delays in the treatment of family members, who have taken ill.

Siddhi Memorial Children’s Hospital based in Bhaktapur’s Jagati is also seeing a spurt in the number of viral fever patients. Viral fever has affected children the most.

Other hospitals like Iwamura Memorial Hospital, Madhyapur Hospital and Korea-Nepal Friendship Hospital are also seeing a surge in the number of viral fever patients.
