Veteran television journalist Durga Nath Sharma has passed away. He was 72 and suffering from some heart problems.
Sharma was one of the first television journalists in the country. He read the news and presented a few other news-based programmes on Nepal Television from its establishment in 1985 for more than 25 years. He was also appointed the general manager of the government-run television. His weekly show ‘Bishwa Ghatana’ was popular among the Nepali audience.
The family sources say Sharma breathed his last at Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre, in Maharajgunj. He was shifted from Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre on Tuesday.
He is survived by wife and two sons.
