Vatican appoints new Apostolic Nuncio to Nepal

Kathmandu, January 22

The Vatican has appointed Archbishop Giambattista Diquattro (Italian origin) as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Nepal and India.

As Apostolic Nuncio, Reverend Diquattro will function as an ambassador of the Vatican to Nepal, as well as serve as a sort of representative of the Pope to Nepal and India.

He will officiate at religious functions where the Pope can’t be present, and is a representation of the Pope on both, a religious as well as diplomatic perspective.

According to the Vatican, he joined the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on May 1, 1985, serving continuous missions in the Pontifical Representations in the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Chad, the United Nations (in New York), and later in the Secretariat of State of His Holiness – Section for Relations with States, and in the Apostolic Nunciature in Italy.
